The winner of the great Castleknock Hotel & Country Club brownie points competition has been announced.

By Robert Carry

The lucky winner of the competition is Robert Walsh from Dublin, and he can expect to hear from a member of the JOE team in the very near future. He gets a ‘Brownie Points’ stay in the landmark Castleknock Hotel in Dublin. We’re talking a one night bed and breakfast stay in an executive double room decorated in rose petals and equipped with a bottle of wine and a tray of chocolate brownies.

The package, which also includes a €25 a la carte voucher for the Castleknock Hotel & Country Club’s Park Steak Restaurant, comes in at just €69 per person sharing.

For those of you who didn’t quite make the cut, all is not lost. If you mention JOE.ie upon booking on the phone or choose JOE.ie in the ‘How did you hear about us’ section of the booking engine, you get a €20 voucher for the hotel’s Tonic Health & Day Spa.

About Castleknock

The award-winning, four-star Castleknock Hotel & Country Club opened in 2005 and features a range of golf, leisure and spa facilities. Its unique, idyllic setting creates the allure of a country resort yet the hotel is located just 15 minutes from the city centre.

A part of the FBD hotel group, the property has 138 guest rooms including standard, executive and family rooms with four executive suites including a new bridal suite. The 20 executive rooms come complete with larger beds, DVD players, IPOD docking stations, hair straighteners, bottled water and much more besides.  The hotel has two restaurants including the AA Rosette award winning Park Steak Restaurant and two bars including The Lime Tree Bar – a stunning 1930’s style cocktail bar which overlooks the south facing al fresco patio area by the lake and golf course.

The hotel’s superb onsite golf course is ranked as one of the top 100 golf courses in Ireland (Golf Digest 2009). Luttrellstown Golf Club, meanwhile, is located just 1km from the hotel.

Tonic Health & Day Spa, which opened in 2009, offers a range of treatments and therapies for guests to choose from with a leisure and fitness centre on the ground floor. In addition, there are family and interconnecting rooms, an 18m swimming pool, baby pool and toddler pool with a new children’s playground that opened in June 2010.

For corporate clients and delegates, the hotel has 15 meeting and conference rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi in each of these rooms and public areas and free broadband internet in each guest bedroom.  Each meeting room has natural daylight, air conditioning and modern AV equipment. The complimentary car park has a capacity for over 500 vehicles.

Awards

Over the past 18 months, the hotel has won no fewer than six awards including the Mark of Best Practice from Failte Ireland and the Customer Service Award from the Fingal Dublin Chamber of Commerce. The hotel has also been home to some of the world’s top sports personalities and teams including veteran golfer Jack Nicklaus, The New Zealand All Blacks rugby side, the French ladies team and Glasgow Celtic FC.

Castleknock Hotel & Country Club is located outside Castleknock village, less than 10 minutes from the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, the M50 motorway and The Phoenix Park which includes Dublin Zoo. It is 15 minutes from Dublin City and 25 minutes from Dublin Airport.
