Everton defender Seamus Coleman has been left out of the Republic of Ireland team for tomorrow evening’s friendly with Norway at the Aviva Stadium.
The 22-year old Donegal man has been in outstanding form for the Toffees of late, but has been overlooked by Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni, who has gone for Stephen Kelly and Liam Lawrence on the right hand side.
19-year old Greg Cunningham, on loan at Leicester City from Manchester City, starts at left back, with John O’Shea and Darren O’Dea in central defence.
Keith Fahey and Glenn Whelan will start in central midfield, while Damien Duff makes a welcome return on the left wing.
Shane Long, who impressed in recent qualifiers against Russia and Slovakia, partners former Reading teammate Kevin Doyle up front.
Ireland’s clash with Norway kicks off at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday evening at 7.45pm.
