Tedfest 5, the annual celebration of all things Father Ted, may be sold out but JOE has come across an alternative means of securing entry.

As well seeking entrants for the ‘Lovely Girls’ competition, event sponsors Meteor are looking for ‘Talented Teds’ to head out to Craggy Island (Inis Mór) to take part in the festival.

Previous winners in the Ted’s Got Talent star search include a priest rapping in the style of Johnny Logan and three nuns doing a Maori Haka.

If you think you have this level of talent and want to compete at this year’s Tedfest, you’ll need to submit a short film clip of your proposed performance.

The winners of Ted’s Got Talent get tickets and accommodation for the winning act. Entries close on the 31 January and the best of the entries will be available for all to see on www.tedfest.org and www.meteor.ie/bringingthecraicback in February.

“We’re really looking forward to the fifth annual Tedfest Festival, an ideal fit for our ‘Bringing The Craic Back Campaign’,” said Meteor’s head of PR, Amanda Carroll. “We launched this campaign last year as fun, craic and celebrating all things Irish is part of the Meteor brand, and we have really enjoyed the fun and interesting events our country has to offer.”

For the 2011 Tedfest event, added to traditional events such as The Craggy Cup, Ted’s Got Talent and The Lovely Girls Contest, are the Pirate Trip to visit the island’s Amish Community and the staging of Craggy Island’s first Kill Bill Festival in Chinatown.

Send your entries, with the name of the competition you are entering in clearly marked in the subject line, to: purcell@tedfest.org
