Despite agreement being reached between management of Aer Lingus and disgruntled crew, flight disruption is continuing throughout the weekend.

IMPACT, the union representing cabin crew who had been struck off Aer Lingus rosters after refusing to accept tough new working conditions, came to an agreement with Aer Lingus management in the early hours of Friday morning when IMPACT members were reinstated and staff records relating to the three-week dispute were wiped clean.

Unfortunately, the knock on effect of the dispute has meant the cancellation of 14 flights on Saturday, with a further 20 looking to be cancelled on Sunday.

Saturday’s cancelled flights have included return flights between Dublin and Manchester, Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam and Malaga, plus flights between Shannon and Heathrow and Cork and Paris.

Normal service may not be restored for several days, by Aer Lingus say that they hope to have the schedules fully running and back to normal on Monday and they have contacted all passengers affected by the weekend’s disruption.

“Aer Lingus apologises sincerely to its customers for the disruption this dispute has caused,” a statement read. “We will now be directing all efforts to restore the full Aer Lingus flight schedule.

“This may take a number of days and we will be in touch directly with our passengers through email and SMS should there be any changes to flight times.”
