In this week’s maul, Johnny, Rob and guest contributor Niall Delaney pore over Ireland’s heartbreaking defeat to France, discuss possible changes to the Irish team and Johnny’s international career.

In Part One of the Maul, the lads get straight down to the business of discussing Ireland’s defeat to France at the weekend.

All three agree that Ireland’s ambition was not to be faulted, but we were let down badly by errors in execution at crucial stages.

With Luke Fitzgerald and Fergus McFadden playing slightly out of position at full-back and wing respectively, the lads discuss possible alternatives in the back three, including the merits of putting Johnny’s Connacht team-mate Gavin Duffy at full back.

Ronan O’Gara delivered yet another impressive cameo against France which leads to a debate about the battle for the out-half slot; while the lads also discuss the possibility of moving Brian O’Driscoll to the inside centre berth as the captain enters the twilight of his career.
