Amateur Irish MMA League kicks off a new season in Galway
Anyone in the Galway area looking for a credible alternative to Bolton v Birmingham for their Saturday morning entertainment should get down to the Kingfisher Sports Center in the NUI. The official Irish MMA League kicks off a new season with its first event on Saturday 12 March.
Fighters can register online at www.mmaleague.com and spectators are welcome. Weigh-in starts at 10.00am to 11.00am with the event starting at 11.00am sharp. Created in 2004 the MMA League allows amateur fighters to build experience and test their skills without the daunting prospect of fighting in front of hundreds of people.
Cage Warriors announce change in Irish date
Following on from their critically acclaimed sell out show last November in Cork, Cage Warriors Fighting Championship promotion is returning to Ireland but not on the previously announced date. The show will now take place on Saturday 28 May at the Neptune Stadium in Cork. These new dates have been chosen to fit in with the year’s extended schedule which will see CWFC make their Middle East debut on 16 June in Amman, Jordan.
Best of luck to Team Ireland fighting in Chicago this weekend
Following a successful debut last year at MMA Sport Federation in Chicago, Team Ireland return to represent the nation in the cage Stateside. The team consists of Alan Philpott from IMMA, Peter Doyle, Paul Redmond, Stephen Lowry, Philip Maher all from Team Ryano and Amanda English from Informed Performance. The team will be coached and cornered by Neil Seery.
MMASF is a promotion that allows amateur fighters to gain the experience of a big, televised show while competing under your national flag. We’ll keep you posted on how they get on.
