There were wins for the Premier County, the Orchard County, the Tribesmen, the Deise, the Dubs, the Kingdom and the Dubs again in the National League.
Kilkenny raced into lead with two goals in the first two minutes through Michael Fennelly and Eddie Brennan.
The tribesman fought their way back into the match, however, and goals from Joe Gantley and Iarla Tannian helped them take a 2-07 2-05 lead at the break.
Tannian found the net again in the second, as did Padraig Pearses’ Cyril Donnellan. Colin Fennelly scored a goal for the Cats, but it wasn’t enough as Galway ran out the winners by a margin of four points.
Elsewhere, Tipperary comfortably overcame Offaly and Waterford had a narrow victory over Cork.
In the National Football League, meanwhile, Kerry beat Galway by double scores, Armagh outscored Mayo by a goal, and Dublin sneaked past Monaghan.
