The sharp and sporty A7 has gone and got itself another engine for its discerning customers to choose from: an ultra-efficient 3.0TDI.

The new 3.0TDI engline with 204 horsepower and multitronic transmission launched in Ireland on Wednesday and tips the scale at 1695kg thanks to the lead Audi has taken in lightweight construction technology. Heavy in terms of a girlfriend, but not in terms of an engine of this size.

The new A7 was launched in Dublin back in September 2010 and has since proved to be a bit of a hit with Irish consumers. According to Andrew Doyle, Managing Director of Audi Ireland, demand for the A7 has “far outstripped initial launch supply”.

“The A7 seamlessly matches its unique sporty styling with absolute practicality,” Doyle says.

“Additionally it draws much of its in car systems from the new Audi A8 ensuring a fit and finish which is absolutely benchmark in premium class.”

“With a significantly lighter yet stronger shell, and the use of the Audi innovative thermal management system, recuperation system and start-stop system, this engine emits just 139g of CO2 which is enough to place it in Tax Band B and which qualifies for the government’s scrappage scheme. A remarkable achievement for a car in this size and class.”

This engine is now available to order through Audi Ireland’s dealer network and is priced from €61,860 on the road.

Standard equipment levels include 18” alloy wheels, xenon headlights, MMI Navigation system, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, Milano Leather, cruise control and park assistance.

First customer deliveries for models with the new engine are expected in May.
