Former All-Star Joe Canning could be in line for a return to the Galway side for the Tribesmen’s final league game against Waterford on Sunday week.
Canning has been sidelined with a knee injury for the league campaign so far, but played for his club side Portumna against Kinvara at the weekend and reported no ill-effects.
Canning’s Portumna teammate Damien Hayes, who is recovering from knee surgery, also played a part, as did Kinvara’s Shane Kavanagh, who underwent surgery on his ankle in December.
All three players trained with the county panel on Monday night and although it seems unlikely that Kavanagh will feature against the Déise, both Hayes and Canning could play a part.
The return of the dynamic duo is a timely one as Galway need a win against Waterford to make sure of a place in the Division One League Final, with Kilkenny, Dublin and Tipperary also in contention for a place in the decider on May 1.
