Ubisoft have today announced the first screenshot and details for Assassin’s Creed Revelations, which promises to take master assassin Ezio Auditore to the Ottoman Empire’s capital Constantinople.

Intended as the follow-up to last year’s 6.5 million-selling Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Revelations promises to be the final chapter in the story arc of protaganist Ezio Auditore, who was first introduced in 2009’s Assassin’s Creed 2.

In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Ubisoft have promised that assassin Ezio Auditore will walk in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altaïr (star of the original Assassin’s Creed), on a journey of discovery and revelation.

The adventure will bring Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilise the region.

In addition to Ezio’s main quest, the acclaimed online multiplayer experience of Brotherhood is to return, refined and expanded, with more modes, more maps and more characters that allow players to test their assassin skills against others from around the world.

US video game monthly Game Informer have also scored a world exclusive reveal of the game, in which the magazine has alluded to ‘a brand new weapon and tool that changes the way you’ll fight and traverse the world’ and the ability to play as Ezio, Altaïr and Animus test subject Desmond during the game.

“Delivering the final chapter of the Ezio trilogy is an important milestone in the Assassin’s Creed franchise for us and for our fans,” said Alexandre Amancio, Creative Director at Ubisoft Montreal. “Assassin’s Creed Revelations includes lots of new features and some significant surprises. We can’t wait to show our fans what we have in store at E3 this year.”

The Assassin’s Creed series of games have sold more than 28 million units worldwide since their 2007 inception, with Revelations looking to build upon that hugely impressive figure upon release this coming November. Expect plenty more information when the video game industry’s biggest event, E3, comes to Los Angeles from June 7-9.
