British actor Hugh Laurie, these days best known to TV viewers as the grumpy Dr House, has become the new face of L’Oreal Paris Men Expert products.
The 52-year-old joins Hollywood stars Gerard Butler (300) and Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) as a global ambassador for the world’s largest cosmetics and beauty company.
“At first I thought it was a mistake,” said Laurie of the announcement.
“But then I realised that L’Oreal wasn’t looking for models but for people with strong personalities, who are worth it…and who aren’t afraid to proclaim that using cosmetics can be a very masculine decision after all,”
Renaissance man Laurie has recently branched out into the music business for the first time ever too, having released his debut album Let Them Talk this past April.
The actor, comedian, writer and musician happens to be the highest-paid actor on US television, with reported earnings of $400,000 per episode.
It has already been estimated that Laurie’s unconventional looks and masculine appeal may be a more suitable choice for men’s cosmetic products than the previous aforementioned Hollywood hunks.
