A late try from Joe Ansboro gave Scotland victory over Ireland in a Rugby World Cup warm up game in Murrayfield.

The winning score came from an overhead kickpass by Nick de Luca which gave Ansboro a clear run to the line followed up a conversion from Rory Jackson.

The start to the game was delayed by 15 minutes due to crowd congestion and then fans had to wait another 33 minutes before the first score.

It came from the boot of Jonathan Sexton, 25 metres out from off the tee after Jim Hamilton infringed on the ruck.

And that’s how it remained at the break until Chris Paterson levelled the game up nine minutes into the second half.

Ireland’s only other score came from Sexton once again from a penalty mid-way through the second half.

Scotland pushed on in the latter stages and Ansboro’s try spelled the end for Ireland in a result that will leave Declan Kidney with much to contemplate.
