UK MMA promotion Cage Warriors has confirmed that it will stage a show in Dublin next year for the first time.

A venue has yet to be announced for the promotion, which will take place on 5 May next.

Cage Warriors, which is currently being run by Irishman Graham Boylan, celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, having staged 44 shows since its establishment in 2001.

The show regularly features Irish fighters, with Donegal native Joseph Duffy and Dubliner Neil Seery among those who fought on the card of Cage Warriors 44 in London two weeks ago.

“We’re looking forward to coming to Dublin for the first time and we’ll be putting on a show that MMA fans won’t want to miss,” said Boylan.

“The sport is growing at a ferocious rate in the UK and the same can be said of Ireland. We’ve been showcasing Irish fighters for a long time.

“Fans will get the opportunity to see some of Ireland’s best fighters in action live, as well a lot of top international talent.”

Some of MMA’s biggest names have previously fought on Cage Warriors cards, with Michael Bisping, Dan Hardy, Ross Pearson and Brian Foster – who won a welterweight bout on the card of the most recent show – among those with UFC experience to have starred in Cage Warriors.

Cage Warriors has a live TV broadcast deal in Ireland with Setanta Sports.
