Munster hooker Jerry Flannery is on his way back from injury, and he has tapped up a world-class German doctor to help.
A calf injury ended Flannery’s World Cup far too early and he has now turned to the wonderfully named Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt for assistance.
The German, who has been team doctor for Bayern Munich and the German national football team, is best known for treating Usain Bolt and our own living saint, Bono.
The U2 frontman injured his back last year and Muller-Wohlfahrt worked on him to get him back on track. The German uses all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff to get his patients back to health, injecting honey, calf blood and even an extract from the crests of cockerels into injured areas to get people up and running.
It worked for Michael Owen and Paula Radcliffe so the German has a track record of success but we have not yet heard what he put into Jerry to cure him.
We hope it works as we would all love to see Jerry back on the field as soon as possible.
