Here we have a traffic jam in the most unusual of places, the Nurburgring, and we can only guess that it’s a million dollar traffic jam.
Generally, whenever we bring you a news story about the Nurburgring it’s either about an amazing drive or a monstrous crash. But this time around we’re bringing you, what can only be described as, a very expensive traffic jam.
The jam, which begins at around 0.50s – in the top right of the picture – is easily one of the most expensive we’ve ever seen. Included in the back-log of cars is an Audi R8, Porsche 911, BMW M3, Audi A3 RS, Lotus Elise, Ford Focus RS, Opel Insignia, Mercedes Benz CLK Racing and even a Mercedes G class, you know, the Mercedes ‘Jeep’, just to name a few.
The jam happened during a closed Scuderia Hanseat event, where drivers are brought out to ‘learn’ the track. However, too many cars seemed to be on the ‘Ring at the one time, which led to this rather interesting video.
There are a few close calls with the Porsche drivers (none of whom put their hazard lights on to indicate the jam – typical), but thankfully everyone escaped unscathed… from this section of the track at least.
