Sizing Europe to win Tingle Creek, 6/4

Henry de Bromhead’s nine-year-old is the favourite for this race but the odds are on the drift and you may get better than the price above by race time. Take it if you can. This horse has won an Arkle and a Champion Chase, both over this distance.

The ground is good to soft and may soften more with rain expected but this won’t harm Sizing Europe’s chances nearly as much as it will his nearest challenger, Wishfull Thinking. Paul Nicholls has a great record in this race but Tataniano pulled out on Friday and Kauto Stone doesn’t appear to have the class of a Master Minded or Kauto Star.

Sizing Europe’s last run was a not too shabby second to Quito De La Roque in the JN Wine at Down Royal but that was over three miles. Back to his preferred distance, he should be fine.

Man City v Norwich, Four or more goals, Evens

While Liverpool managed to put something of a halt in City’s gallop last weekend, Roberto Mancini’s side still came away with a point in a game that marked only the second occasion all season that the league leaders dropped points.

It was also the only time they have failed to score two or more goals all season and the third game they’ve played in where there was less than four goals scored in total. We think normal service will be resumed at the Etihad this weekend against a Norwich side that haven’t kept a clean sheet all season.

Everton to beat Stoke, 3/4

The price may not be great but this looks like a sure thing. Stoke are dreadful away from home, and have been for most of their spell in the Premier League. This season is no different, with just one away win. They have also only scored three and conceded 15 on the road.

When the fatigue from playing Europa League on Thursday night is added to the mix, Tony Pulis’ side are to be avoided.

The Toffees are far from sensational at home but they have their last two and they should overpower the visitors to Goodison.

New Orleans Saints (-9) to beat the Detroit Lions, 10/11

The Saints are not quite at the level they were at when they own the Super Bowl two seasons ago but they are getting closer by the week.

Powered by the magical Drew Brees, they have won their last three and they murdered the New York Giants 49-24 on Monday night. Brees passed for four TDs and ran one in but the Saints’ running game was stunning in the Superdome. Darren Sproles, Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas are probably the best set of backs in the NFL right now.

The Lions are good against the run but that trio will still hurt them. Monster defender Ndamukong Suh is suspended and his absence will cost the Lions dearly.

Add in that the Saints are at home, where they are unbeaten this year, and the spread looks too skinny to us.
