Edson Barboza delivered a knockout at the weekend that will live long in the memory of UFC fans. Terry Etim probably doesn’t recall it though.
The Brazilian Barboza faced the British fighter Etim in the lightweight division in Rio and up to round three the fight was pretty even. But Barboza looked the stronger and he ensured that the judges would not be needed by delivering the first ever spinning heel kick KO in UFC history.
Poor old Etim was out before he hit the ground and thankfully he is okay now. Etim has half of the $65,000 bonus for fight of the night but it is scant consolation for being on the receiving end of one of the greatest knockouts of all time.
The clip above shows the knockout in super slow-mo so you get to see every small bit of the impact in glorious colour. It’s a wonderful world we live in.
