The rugby lads might be having a hard time trying to rearrange the France v Ireland game, but it’s nothing compared to the GAA’s attempts to reschedule Mayo v Dublin in the National League.
The original league fixture between the sides had to be abandoned at half-time on Saturday night after dense fog shrouded McHale Park and made it impossible for the players to see each other.
Rumours this morning suggested that the game might even take place in Croke Park further down the line, but it was then announced by the GAA that the game would take place next Saturday at 2pm.
The powers that be had obviously not thought of the Martin Donnelly Interprovincial semi-finals taking place next weekend and involving players from both sides, meaning that the drawing board had to be revisited once more.
Confusion reigned over the actual date of the rescheduled fixture for a while, to the extent that Mayo forward Conor Mortimer seemed mystified on Twitter when the lovely Evanne ni Chuilinn tweeted that the game may have to be rescheduled again (Evanne has since tweeted the correct date).
Thankfully, everything has been sorted out and the game has been fixed (again) for Saturday, 31 March, with the throw-in time yet to be announced, although hopefully the GAA won’t need to deliberate upon that detail as much as they did on the actual date of the rescheduled fixture.
Let’s just hope it’s not foggy again when the time comes.
