Would you wear these jeans?

Jeans that can be used as a wireless keyboard. Would you wear them?

JOE

We’re all for stuff that doubles as other stuff, take the Dress Pant Sweat Pants for example, but we think crossing a pair of jeans with a computer keyboard is just a little bit too much.

The Telegraph reports that a pair jeans with a built in wireless keyboard has been invented by two computer experts from The Netherlands.

Erik de Nijs and Tim Smit hand-stitched a pair of prototype trousers, which come with a full-sized Bluetooth keyboard, integrated speakers and a wireless mouse (we’re assuming that’s lodged in a back pocket somewhere).

The reason behind these ingenious trousers? The designers wanted to give users the freedom to move around and still use their computer. Eh…we’re not exactly sure how comfortable you’d be moving around with a plastic keyboard stuck just below the crotch area but anyway…

Also, what about the social implications? Do you really think people would want to be your friend if they saw you absent-mindedly typing away on your crotch? The answer is no. No, they probably wouldn’t.

The odd invention works in the same way a standard wireless keyboard works – you simply plug a USB device into the computer and this keeps a wireless connection with the keyboard on your pants so you can use it. Amazing.

The jeans have been affectionately dubbed ‘Beauty and the Geek’ and according to de Nijs, they’re only slightly heavier than a regular pair of jeans. Thank god for that.

The jeans are expected to sell for just over £250 if they ever make it to the market.

Given the fact that they look absolutely ridiculous and the fact that we’d just rather wear normal jeans and use a wireless keyboard, we imagine that it might take some time before these keyboard jeans are available to the public.
