Another week, another competition here on JOE. We’re giving away five copies of the new autobiography by former Newcastle, Liverpool, Man City and Germany star – and sometime RTE pundit – Dietmar Hamann.
Hamann was in Dublin at the weekend to sign copies of his book, titled The Didi Man: My Love Affair with Liverpool, at Eason on O’Connell Street.
Given the title, clearly he values his time with Newcastle, Man City, Germany and even RTE less than his seven years at Anfield.
Hamann won 59 caps for Germany and helped Liverpool to two FA Cups and two League Cups, but it was his role in the club’s Champions League success in 2005, when he was introduced at half-time with his side 3-0 down and played a significant role in the crazy comeback, that will probably go down as the highlight of his career.
But that’s just our guess. The man himself could have something completely different to say – maybe he cherishes the three wins he had as a manager? (That’s three games, now, not three trophies. His time in charge of Stockport County lasted four months.)
