Video: France v Ireland on ice; the ‘Stade de Farce’ game finally gets played

Thanks to the clever people at Betfair, here’s how the cancelled France-Ireland game could have played out. On ice!

We were all very disappointed when Ireland’s Six Nations game against France in Paris was called off at the last minute two weeks ago. The problem at the Stade de France was a frozen pitch but can you play rugby on ice?

Well no, you can’t as the game is difficult enough without the ground being frozen. But, if you hire some ice hockey players, dress them up in Irish and French gear and replay the game on ice what happens?

Well it seems that Ireland would eke out a win. While we would have liked to see Morgan Parra and Jonny Sexton slip on the skates we instead have to make do with lads in blue and green t-shirts and loads of ice hockey padding.

Still, a similar result to the one Betfair achieved in this video would suit Declan Kidney down to the ground on Sunday. And fair play to the lads for the idea.
