Want a fast track to meeting some cool people? Get on the Irish rugby team. See, told you it was easy.
The Irish rugby team may well be the best connected bunch of sports people this island has ever produced. They regularly pull in the big names to keep them entertained when they’re in camp.
In the past Padraig Harrington and Marvin Hagler have come in to give them a bit of insight into sporting excellence. Two weeks ago Shane Lowry came in to show them some golf tricks but that didn’t really work out for Sean O’Brien.
Last week, Ryanair supremo Michael O’Leary came in for a chat and by all accounts it was very entertaining too.
But this week, as the lads gear up for the final Six Nations clash of the year against England, Declan Kidney managed to get Christy Moore in to give the lads a little concert.
Not only did Christy belt out a few hits but he also got the lads involved. Team manager Mick Kearney, the victim of Sean O’Brien’s ill-fated golf swing, told the media that some of the lads fancied themselves as singers.
“I’m sure Christy will looking for a couple of singers. Damien Varley may get up there and do his impersonation and Kevin McLaughlin is a good singer as well,” he said.
And sure enough he did, as this picture of Varley in action with Christy, courtesy of Jamie Heaslip’s Twitter page proves.

So, if you want to sing with a legend or swing (in the golfing sense, by the way) with a Major winner, get yourself in the Irish squad. Simples.
