Until today we all knew that Halo 4 was coming, we just didn’t know when. Now Microsoft has announced that Master Chief is to go up against Call of Duty later this year.
In a surprisingly ballsy move, Microsoft have said that 343 Industries’ Halo 4 will hit Xbox 360 consoles on November 6, typically the week of release reserved for each yearly Call of Duty installment.
According to the press release announced today, the game promises to address the fact that Halo 3 “left many unanswered questions around the fates of the series’ beloved hero, the Master Chief, and his artificial intelligence companion, Cortana.”
As we’re talking about one of the biggest franchises in the video game industry, 343 are going to be nice and let us in on the duo’s continuing adventures.
“With Halo 4 leading the charge, we’re confident 2012 will be the most successful year in Xbox history,” Microsoft Studios VP Phil Spencer said in the statement. “We are beginning a new saga with Halo 4 and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of Halo games and experiences.”
Further footage of the upcoming blockbuster is promised to be unveiled on the Conan O’Brien talk show, Conan, on US TV later tonight.
Are you excited for the new Halo release or do you think that it should have been a next-generation console experience? Or perhaps you’ve had enough of the sci-fi shooter altogether? Let us know in the comments section below.
