Activision has confirmed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 just hours before the military title was expected to be announced today.

The sequel to the Cold War-set 2010 shooter from Treyarch is set to focus on “21st Century Cold War”, with a future setting unlike anything the series has seen thus far.

So far just two in-game screenshots have been leaked, both of which feature quadrocopters in a ruined futuristic environment. Take a look below:

The game’s existence was confirmed today with the launch of an official Black Ops 2 website, which carries the following blurb: “Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.”

Rather annoyingly, the website carries a YouTube trailer that is currently set to private, mostlikely until after its premiere tonight during an NBA playoffs encounter on US TV.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is set for release on Nov 13 on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Rest assured, we will have the first official trailer live on JOE.ie first thing tomorrow morning.
