Gears of War prequel unofficially leaked

The world's biggest video games show is just a few short days away yet the leaks for E3 are coming thick and fast. Here's another surprise spoiled - Gears of War: Judgement.

JOE

After the events of last year’s Gears of War 3, the new title has been confirmed as a prequel set 15 years prior to the events of the trilogy.

The game will also star Damon Baird and August Cole, two popular but undeniably supporting characters from previous titles.

Though the game isn’t expected to be shown officially until next week’s E3 video game convention in Los Angeles, details have leaked from an upcoming cover shot and article from US magazine Game Informer.

According to the publication, the game will be handled by Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly and will feature a new ‘Smart Spawn System’ that will adjust according to player’s movement, position and difficulty setting. Judgement will also feature a class-based system of multiplayer for the first time in the series.

Regarding the game’s story, Judgement will follow the ‘Kilo Squad’, who according to a source speaking to IGN: “They are charged for treason because they didn’t follow orders, stole equipment, and their actions could end up killing millions of people they swore to protect.”

As exciting as the game sounds, we’d have preferred to see it revealed as a surprise during Microsoft’s E3 press conference tomorrow rather than leaked just over 24 hours beforehand.

Let’s hope, however, that Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft each still have a few shocks in store over the next couple of days…
