Here we have a video of the London F1 Grand Prix street race – well, a video of what it might look like if it actually goes ahead. It’s the first ‘official’ video of the London GP and the F1 sponsor Santander has lovingly paid it for, but we assume you’d guess that after watching about five seconds of it.
The video has been created Populous, the famed CGI factory, and according to Top Gear, they’ve treated this video as seriously as any of their Olympic, World Cup or other “mammoth stadia projects”. In fairness, it does look great.
It’s billed to be a night time street race and the track length is 5.156km per lap, so that would be roughly a 59 second per lap race. It covers a lot of the major tourist attractions in the city and it even swings by Queeny’s gaff too. Well for her…
Whether or not a London GP will actually go ahead is still pretty much still up in the air, but it will certainly do a lot for London, and it would be nice to see F1 returning a little closer to home.
