The 141st Open golf championship takes place at Royal Lytham & St Anne’s this week and to mark the occasion Mercedes-Benz gave two top sportsmen a spin in their brand new CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake.

The CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake gets its world premiere in the coming days, and Mercedes brand ambassador Adam Scott is in this part of the world for that big golf thingy, for which Mercedes is also the “Official Car”.

So there was a clear case of opportunity knocks, and when you can get another well-known face from the world of sport and television on your side, then it was a no-brainer.

David Coulthard, the Scottish former Formula 1 driver and now one of the faces of BBC’s F1 coverage, chauffeured Scott around in the new CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake.

It’s not every day you have an F1 star as your driver, but then again neither is it every day that you have one of the world’s most famous golfers in the passenger seat, so it sounds like it was a special day for both of them.

The pair went for a quick spin around Lancashire, sharing a bit of a chinwag about their passions of, conveniently enough, Mercs and golf.
