The best female professional boxer Holly Holm has said she would relish a fight with Katie Taylor.
Speaking to the Mirror Holm, who is the pound-for-pound queen of professional boxing and a three weight world champion, said she would take on Taylor if the possibility of the fight arose.
The current world welterweight champion Holm praised Ireland’s gold medallist saying “I think she did a wonderful job of representing women’s boxing at the Olympics and would like to congratulate her on her medal win. She is definitely ready for the pros, but that is a decision for her to make.”
Holm who has transitioned to fighting in MMA as well as female professional boxing and holds a record of 31-2-3 added that she reckoned that she could handle Taylor, “I will fight anybody in the world between 140-154lb if the money and conditions are right and fair, and that includes Taylor. I am pound for pound Champion and that’s why belts do not matter to me. I have 11 World Titles. I have successfully cleaned out three divisions and I would welcome the needed competition…I fight whoever they put in front of me.”
Taylor is currently considering offers of what to do next as promoter’s court her following her emphatic Olympic win, though the girl from Bray has said she has 10years left in her as a professional or amateur fighter.
Holm from New Mexico though fancies her chances against Taylor should she choose to turn professional right now.
“It is her decision whether she goes pro or not, but I would advise her to surround herself with the right people. Right now I would be confident of beating her. She is young and needs to get some experience then we can make a big fight.”
