According to scientific researchers, who obviously have way too much time on their hands, watching porn or extremely violent movies before you start a workout will help you to lift heavier weights.
But why would watching something a little X-rated help you to lift heavier weights? It’s all thanks to testosterone. Watching violent fight scenes or porn just before a work out will dramatically increase the amount of testosterone in your body, meaning your can lift heavier weights. However, it may also have a bit of a downside… or an unfortunate ‘upside’, as it were.
UK sports scientists Dr Christian Cook and Dr Blair Crewther measured the hormonal reactions of weightlifters after they watched various movie clips.
They found that the lads would lift heavier bars after watching the blue and violent movies, however, the lads couldn’t lift their maximum after watching more ‘emotional’ films, like The Notebook.
That said, we wouldn’t recommend watching ‘Back Door Sluts 9’ or anything along those lines before going out to lift weights. Not for your sake, but for everyone else’s.
