Some top mixed martial artists from Dublin were on a major card in Jordan over the weekend, while there they managed to educate their taxi-driver on “The Prince of Ireland.”
It was a good weekend for Irish mixed martial arts as Chris Fields of Dublin won a world MMA title – the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship Middleweight belt in Jordan. You can read all about Chris’s third round win here.
Afterwards Chris and a few of his club mates from SBGi were travelling in a taxi while visiting the Dead Sea, when Ahmed their taxi-driver started telling them about Jordan.
“In Jordan” says Ahmed, “there is Allah and the King of Jordan,” proclaimed the gabby cabby.
As Ahmed had told them about the King of Jordan, Cathal Pendred, one of the top welterweight fighters in Europe, with Chris and others in the back seat, felt obliged to tell Ahmed about the non-native Prince of Ireland. He was born in West Philadelphia apparently…
The lads may be bad, mean fighters in a cage, but they have a good sense humour outside it.
