Sony announced the release of an all-new PlayStation 3 today, but don’t get too excited as there’s noting overly mind blowing about it.
The latest PlayStation to come from Japanese tech giants Sony is just another revamped version of the PlayStation 3 – the third generation of the console. Basically, they’ve just put the old PS3 on a diet by making it 20% smaller and 25% lighter than the second-generation.
Due to be launched in Ireland on September 28th, the newer console will be available first in black and then in white a few months later. Apart from being a bit smaller overall, this third-generation model also won’t feature the slide in disk mechanism. Instead it will feature a disk tray. Old-school style.
The new PS3 system will be available with a whopping 500GB of storage, which will be closely followed by what Sony is calling a “wallet-friendly” 12GB version.
There’s no word yet on the pricing, but we imagine it must be fairly decent seeing as everyone and their granny must have a PS3 by now.
