You’ll probably need an excuse to tune into The Saturday Night Show with Brendan O’Connor tonight so here’s one: John Joe Nevin is set to announce his decision to go pro live on the programme.
Nevin himself has already announced that he will be revealing his decision on national television tonight, but the Irish Times and a number of sources on Twitter, including Irish Sun boxing columnist Kevin Byrne, have suggested that the Mullingar man won’t be an amateur for much longer.
The Olympic silver medallist hit out at the premature suggestions himself on Twitter earlier today, but given the amount of speculation suggesting he will turn pro, it would be a surprise if he reveals otherwise to O’Connor later on.
According to reports, Nevin is set to sign up with Amir Khan’s stable, Khan Promotions, and if he does end up doing so we wish him all the best.
The Mullingar shuffle is about to go global it seems.
