Ulster’s chances of going two for two in the Heineken Cup have received a boost as Stephen Ferris and Nick Williams have been named in the squad for Friday’s game with Glasgow.

After his late withdrawal on Friday, and his history of injury, all Ulster fans, and Ireland fans, must have been worried about the fitness of Stephen Ferris. The big man missed the victory over Castres after suffering back spasms prior to the game but he has been included in the extended squad for Round 2 game against Glasgow.

Ferris was reported to have been in considerable pain over the weekend but according to a statement today by Ulster Rugby, he is ‘responding well’ to treatment.

As for Williams, the Kiwi missed the Heineken opener with a rib injury but the province have included him in the 28-man squad today, saying that they want to give him as much time as possible to prove his fitness for Friday’s game.

It’s not all good news though as Ulster have also confirmed that Roger Wilson, Robbie Diack and Declan Fitzpatrick are not yet ready for action.
