Munster welcomed back-row CJ Stander to Ireland today as Troy Smith returns to his native New Zealand after injuries hampered his time in Ireland.

The Irish Examiner reports that Stander arrived in Munster today and is set to offer Rob Penney some serious selection headaches in the back row. The South African finished his season in South Africa two weeks ago when his Blue Bulls side were beaten by the Sharks in the semi-final of the Currie Cup.
He can operate at flanker of number eight and will bolster options considerably. The 22 year-old is a scoring threat having amassed 55 points in 36 games for the Bulls and captained his country at 2010 Junior World Championship.
As he arrives, Munster wave good-bye to another import as Kiwi Troy Smith returns to his homeland.
The centre featured in the British and Irish Cup but injuries curtailed his short career at the double Heineken Cup champions and Munster did not Stand in his way.
