The fourth installment of the decade-old franchise hit sales of $220 million on the opening day and is expected to surpass the $300 million mark in the first week which would break all previous sales records.
There had been a frenzied build-up to the launch as the game has grown globally since being launched in the market in 2001. Since then, Microsoft has generated a whopping $3.38 billion in revenue from the franchise.
Halo 4 is set to battle it out with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which also hit the shelves yesterday, as the number one game of the 2012.
Long nights ahead for enthusiasts of both!
