Leinster fans can breathe a sigh of relief after Irish duo Jonathan Sexton and Sean O’Brien were given the all-clear ahead of the crucial Heineken Cup clash with Clermont this weekend.

Both Sexton and O’Brien were withdrawn at half-time in Leinster’s comfortable bonus point victory over Zebre and thankfully the situation regarding their injuries is pretty black and white as both will be fine for the trip to face the Top 14 side.

Barring long-term absentees like Rob Kearney and Brian O’Driscoll, Joe Schmidt will be dealing with a full hand ahead of a double-header that will decide which of the two contenders come out on top of Pool Three, with Leinster travelling to Clermont on Sunday ahead of the return clash in the Aviva Stadium six days later.

Jamie Heaslip and Richardt Strauss will both be available having sat out Saturday’s PRO 12 clash entirely, while the Clermont game will be an especially significant one for Gordon D’Arcy, who will become the most capped Heineken Cup player in Leinster’s history.

That’s assuming he makes the starting line-up of course, but we’re pretty sure he will.
