Paul O’Connell’s return has been ruled out for at least another month as Munster look likely to finish the pool stages without their talisman.

O’Connell had hoped to feature during the Autumn Series but was ruled out before the South Africa fixture and has still to return to action.
The second row was injured in the Heineken Cup outing against Edinburgh at Thomond Park and is struggling to play any part in the pool stages, with vital upcoming fxtures to determine their fate in a competitive group.
The Lions captain is now said to be considering an operation to clear up the problem. A knee injury ruled him out of the summer tour to New Zealand and early part of the current season.
