It is going to be a really happy Christmas for one Dublin punter, after he pocketed over €43,000 this weekend via his humble football acca.
The football coupon is a wondrous way to both pass the time on a Saturday morning. Plotting the outcomes of the Scottish Third Division (easier now that Rangers are in there but still) can soak up a hours of time but to be honest, we spend more time imagining what we would do if we did manage to pick only winners.
One Rathfarnham punter doesn’t have to wonder anymore after his €2 bet landed him in the money at Boylesports this weekend.
The mystery man collected €43,585.84 and looking at the teams he picked, it seems oh-so-easy.
The winning bet selected wins for many acca regulars like Man Utd, Celtic, Rangers, Man City, Tottenham and Arsenal, while wins for Bolton, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Millwall, Blackpool and, bravely, QPR rounded out the win selections.
A pair of draws, in Stoke v Everton and Birmingham v Crystal Palace, rounded out the coupon.
We bet he really enjoyed Arsenal’s win last night, bar the few minutes when it looked like Wenger’s men were going to allow Reading to get back in. When Theo Walcott finally put the game to bed, we bet the shouts from Dublin 14 were heard in the Madjeski.
