Sam Vesty in premature celebration

Unless you are in the Chris Ashton school of thought, showboating should have no place in rugby. Celebrations are generally low-key and that’s the way we like to see it.

Sam Vesty didn’t subscribe to that theory last season, but got his comeuppance in dramatic style. Pointing to the crowd as he was about to touch down, the Bath out-half was oblivious to the speed merchant Tom Varndell on his trail, who tackled him and prevented a near certain score.

Sympathy was in short supply for Sam. Well if you act like a bolloc*s, you will be treated like a bolloc*s.

Argentinean players dive for cover after gun fire

Rugby players tend not to take any nonsense lying down. Argentinean players more so than most definitely abide by this mantra. However two u-19 teams were left with little choice when gun fire broke out at a soccer pitch alongside the rugby game.

The amazing scenes occurred in near the city of Salta and thankfully no players were killed in the attack. A hardy bunch those Argies.

Young Aussie fan sticks it to the All Blacks

The rivalry between Australia and New Zealand is on par with our rivalry with England. The close neighbours bring out the best in each other and while the All-Blacks have generally come out on top over the past decade, including the World Cup semi-final last year, it is keenly contested to say the least.

The fans just love getting one over each other and this young Aussie fan takes great delight in seeing a penalty kick sailing between the posts.

That a boy.

Heads up for Scots in Aussie win

Scotland’s epic win over Australia this summer was everything you expect from Scottish rugby. Low scoring, no tries and upsetting the opposition, the only difference was they actually won this game.

In the driving rain in Newcastle, a last-minute penalty saw the visitors take a 9-6 victory and what followed was unbridled joy for the Scots men. Unfortunately, it also led to a clash of heads as Alasdair Strokosch and Joe Ansbro got their jumping times synchronised and clashed heads mid-air.

They kept their heads during the game, but nearly lost them afterwards.

Will Genia not happy with interview question

Australian captain Will Genia looked a little worse for wear after the Wallabies hard fought 26-19 win over the Springboks in the Rugby Championsship. Nursing a heavily bandaged leg, he hobbled to the interview on crutches.

The man behind the microphone Rod Kafer asked what seemed to be a rather innocuous question  post-match, which was taken up the wrong way by the scrum-half. In fairness, he apologised before the end and all was forgiven.
