Today marks the 40th Birthday of the world famous puzzle game, the Rubik’s Cube, so to commemorate the occasion we’ve picked out five our of favourite Rubik’s Cube solving videos.
The ‘Rubik’s Cube’ – originally named the ‘Magic Cube’ – was invented back in 1974 by the Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture, Mr Ernő Rubik (pictured), in order to help him understand the structural problem of moving the parts of the cube independently without the entire mechanism falling apart. So in other words, it was never meant to be a bestselling toy…
However, when it came to putting the cube back to its original position, Mr Rubik found that the task was actually quite puzzling, but in a fun way. So a few years, and a few patents, later, Rubik’s new puzzle was exported from Hungry to toy shops all around the world becoming an instant award winning success.
