We don’t want to gloat or anything, but we think we might have had something to do with this…
If you didn’t catch a glimpse of the incredibly skilful and incredibly laid-back hurling crossbar challenge attempt by Shea Hunter, a talented teenage hurler from Antrim, on the site earlier this week, then you really should do now.
The combination of sublime skill and extreme nonchalance exhibited by young Shea led your humble author to compare him to former Manchester United and current Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov and it seems as if that description has merited a mention on the Bulgarian’s Wikipedia page.
Under the heading ‘Style of Play,’ the line ‘Indeed, Shea Hunter was dubbed the “Dimitar Berbatov of hurling” for his effortlessness at striking the crossbar with his sliotar’ is sandwiched between criticism of Berbatov for his supposed laziness and a comparison with United legend Eric Cantona. That’s pretty distinguished company for Shea to be keeping alright.
Alas, the likelihood of Shea remaining on Berbatov’s Wikipedia page for long is slim but we have included a screengrab above; hopefully it’ll be something we’ll all be looking back on when Shea has made it big in the small ball game a few years from now.
