Paul O’Connell has revealed the desperate lengths he is going to in an attempt to regain his fitness.

The Munster second-row underwent surgery on his bulging disc 11 days ago and while he feels it has been a success, he said he became so frustrated he was willing to try anything.
“I’ve had everything offered to me from magnets to various drinks to every kind of a ‘cure’ for it. It’s nice that people are concerned but sometimes that can add to the frustration of not playing,” he said.
The former Lions captain has ruled out any involvement in the Six Nations and his target is now the Heineken Cup quarter-finals should Munster make it that far. With a lack of international rugby under his belt, O’Connell has conceded that any hopes of a third Lions tour are very slim.
“You never rule it out but it is going to be very difficult,” he said. “You would imagine the Lions squad is going to be picked on the Six Nations, so it is going to be very difficult to make it on that trip.”
For now O’Connell will be attempting to get back to full-match fitness.
