Not surprisingly, ROG hasn’t escaped censure for THAT kick

Edinburgh’s Sean Cox told him to enjoy his fu**ing time off and it looks as if he might have had a point as Ronan O’Gara was cited this evening for an incident in Munster’s victory yesterday.

The out-half was seen to fairly blatantly kick out at the Edinburgh lock after Cox had quite blatantly blocked an O’Gara run in the middle of the pitch yesterday, an incident which caused a bit of a kerfuffle as players from both sides got involved.

O’Gara was whipped off not long afterwards, but there was always a worry that the kick could back to haunt him, as has proved the case as news came through this evening that he had been cited by Italian Citing Commissioner Alberto Recaldini and will face a disciplinary hearing in Dublin on Thursday.

O’Gara faces a ban of anything between four weeks and in excess of 12 weeks if he is found guilty of the offence, meaning he is in danger of missing Ireland’s opening Six Nations fixtures as well as Munster’s crucial final pool encounter against Racing Metro next weekend.

It remains to be seen what action will be taken against the out-half, but after taking another look at the video below, you’ll probably agree that his chances of getting off the hook don’t look particularly good…
