The Amazon Prime Air dream looks to be gaining significant momentum as the company has asked aviation regulators for permission to begin outside testing…

We first heard about Amazon’s unmanned drone dream called Amazon Prime Air roughly seven months ago and since then we haven’t heard to much about the project… until now.

Apparently, the company wants to deliver Amazon packages that weigh less than 2.25kg using unmanned delivery drones that can reach speeds up to 80-kmh. According to the company, roughly 86 per cent of their deliveries could be made via drone.

“We are rapidly experimenting and iterating on Prime Air inside our next generation research and development lab in Seattle.

“Amazon would prefer to keep the focus, jobs, and investment of this important research and development initiative in the United States by conducting private research and development operations outdoors near Seattle,” it said in the letter signed by Paul Misener, vice president for global public policy.

The FAA over in the US recently banned commercial drone flights until it could draft up rules and regulations concerning the unmanned aircraft. So it will still be some time until you’re next box set of Game of Thrones is delivered via drone.
