Hot on the heels of Cian Healy’s ban, and bad news about Simon Zebo, Jonny Sexton and Mike McCarthy, Gordon D’Arcy’s Six Nations is over too.
To cap off a miserable week for Irish rugby fans, we now learn that Leinster centre Godon D’Arcy won’t play any further part in this year’s Six Nations.
According to reports, a foot injury will sideline D’Arcy for at least six weeks, ending his chances of playing against Scotland, France or Italy.
Following on from defeat to England, a ban for Cian Healy and injuries to Simon Zebo, Jonny Sexton and Mike McCarthy, this latest bit of bad news is the last thing we need.
It means Keith Earls is almost certain to start against Scotland, and it may mean a promotion for Andrew Trimble and Luke Fitzgerald, injury permiting of course.
Life isn’t getting any easier for Declan Kidney, is it?
