All going well, these three bets will have in the black by the end of the weekend.
After a combination of the weather (Wexford v Armagh was called off) and Wayne Rooney (Wazza didn’t score against Everton) last week’s treble fell apart.
This week, with a strangely empty sporting calendar to ponder, we look to Ascot, Luis Suarez and Gunni Nelson to turn a profit. This bet should net you about 8/1.
Captain Chris to win the Ascot Chase, 5/2
As a former Arkle winner, Captain Chris is obviously a class act. After a poor enough year last year, the nine-year-old looks back to his best and he won on heavy ground at Ascot back in November. His second in the King George was impressive too and we think Phillip Hobbs’ charge has the stamina required to hold off Cue Card and Finian’s Ranbow tomorrow.
Luis Suarez to score at anytime against Swansea, 5/6
After missing a hatful of chances against Zenit in midweek, we suspect that Luis Suarez will not be so wasteful two games in a row. This is a massive match for Brendan Rodgers, against his former club, and with the pressure really on at Anfield, we expect Liverpool’s main man, with Daniel Sturridge back to help, will find the net for his boss.
Gunnar Nelson to beat Jorge Santiago, 2/5
At the UFC event in London at the weekend all Irish eyes will be on Gunnar Nelson. With lots of links to this country, we’ve practically adopted the Icelander as one of our own. His bout this weekend is a tough one but Gunni is unbeaten so far in his MMA career. We don’t see that changing on Saturday.
