If you watched the Super XV final recently, you’ll have a fair idea what got the number one spot.

If you watched the Super XV final recently, you’ll have a fair idea what got the number one spot.

Unlike football, where goals have been celebrated in good, bad and ridiculous fashion for generations, celebrating tries with anything more than a subtle fist pump is something of a new phenomenon in rugby.

With that in mind, some players are still getting the hang of how to do it properly and there have been some comical attempts to do over the years.

A number of them, featuring the likes of Danny Cipriani, Owen Farrell and Adam Ashley-Cooper feature in a special ode to horrendous celebrations from Sean Maloney, special guest Sekope Kepu and the Rugby HQ crew this week, alongside two incredibly cringe-worthy collective celebrations from the northern hemisphere.

Coming in at number two is an awkward three-way handshake involving Richie McCaw after the All-Blacks claimed the 2011 World Cup, while number one happened only a number of days ago, when the NSW Waratahs found out that shaking bottles of cider does not have the same effect as shaking bottles of champagne.

That one we could watch over and over and over again.
