It’s an exciting day for car lovers everywhere as the all-new iconic Golf GTI finally makes an appearance ahead of the Geneva Motor Show.
There’s only a week until the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show when we’ll finally get to see what all the big car manufacturers have been working on (there will also be lots of hot chicks).
One car that’s going to make its debut is the all-new Golf GTI, pictured in the gallery above. We recently test drove the new Golf (keep an eye out for the review in the coming days) and if that was anything to go by, the new GTI is going to be an absolute screamer.
While we don’t know how it rides we certainly know that it’s drop dead gorgeous. In terms of specs, the new GTI is powered by a turbocharged petrol direct-injection engine (TSI) and accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 246 km/h. As for emissions, the GTI spits out 139 g/km of CO2 and it now sits in tax band B2, which is pretty good for a car of it’s size.
The iconic sporty character of the Golf GTI is reflected in its traditional red-painted brake callipers, two chrome tailpipes and sports suspension. The exterior of the compact sports car features 17-inch “Brooklyn” GTI wheels and 225/45 size tyres, special side sills, a diffuser and smoked LED rear lights (including LED licence plate illumination).
The car will go on sale here in Ireland in June with prices starting at just €33,595. We can’t wait.
