Geoff Shreeves has crushed the dreams of Branislav Ivanovic and Rafa Benitez on live TV in the past but Carl Jenkinson was having none of it when Shreeves tried to make him his latest victim last night.
The Sky Sports reporter is famous for his ability to remind footballers of their damning predicaments at the worst possible time, such as when he repeatedly reminded Branislav Ivanovic that he would miss the Champions League Final last year and when telling Rafa Benitez that he wasn’t exactly wanted at Stamford Bridge when he took the Chelsea manager’s gig.
Following Arsenal’s victory over Bayern Munich, a victory that wasn’t enough to secure progression to the quarter-finals, Shreeves thought it a good time to remind defender Carl Jenkinson that it has been eight years since the Gunners have won a trophy.
As you’ll see in the video above, however, Jenkinson wasn’t about to get the violins out.
Undeterred, Shreeves is no doubt already plotting to pounce on Roberto Mancini and his Manchester City players should they fail to beat Everton on Saturday afternoon and remind them that their chances of retaining the title are all but gone.
