Pics: Would you live in this amazing house in Australia that hangs from the edge of a cliff?

Just be careful not to confuse the front and the back door, the consequences could be disastrous.

Just be careful not to confuse the front and the back door; the consequences could be disastrous.

In our quieter moments, everyone dreams of living in a fancy house in a gorgeous location overlooking the sea, but it’s one thing being able to see the ocean hundreds of yards in front of you and a whole other thing looking at it directly under your feet.

That’s the idea behind a conceptual design by Australian company Modscape, who have come up with an amazing looking if slightly scary design for a five-level house that would potentially hang over a cliff on the coast Down Under.

Before we look at the potential pitfalls, we should appreciate that what the company have in mind is pretty spectacular and the interior is pretty breath-taking… modscape2 modscape3 modscape4

You can find out loads about the design on the the brief on the Modscape website, where it says that “entry to the home is through a carport on the top floor, where a lift vertically connects the user through each of the descending living spaces. Internally, the living spaces feature minimalistic furnishings to ensure that the transcendent views of the ocean and the unique spatial experience of the location remain the integral focal point of the design”.

In other words, you use a lift to get up and down and the inside is very nice.

Obviously living in a house that hangs pretty precariously over a cliff will put some people off, while others would worry about the damage that might be done if a storm comes in and waves are bashing repeatedly against the big windows.

That said, we’d love to give it a try for a while; it’d probably be easier to snap this up than it is to buy a property in some parts of Dublin at the moment.
